I’m a journalist by trade. I work as an associate producer and co-host on a local TV show called WEDU Arts Plus. I also blog about travel deals for VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation.
As you can see, I have zero gardening experience… which is exactly of this blog! I’m learning something new that has nothing to do with work.
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, so I can rationalize just about anything — including my lack of knowledge about plant life. Now I live in sunny Florida, a.k.a. the Land of No Excuses.
I share a townhouse near Tampa with my husband, Braulio and our daughter, Norah, who was born in 2012. I would love to be so enamored by my front yard that I stop to admire it on my way into the house, as my mom does. (“Oh, my flowers!”) Plus, gardening falls in line with my desire to feed my family as much organic food as possible, within reason, and it seems like a good lifelong hobby. I’m especially interested in container gardening because we don’t have a ton of space inside or outside.
Now’s a good time to mention that my name is pronounced like this: dah-LEE-ah
… and not like this:
So at the risk of ruining my nails, let’s dig in.
